Volunteer

Animal rescue would not be possible without volunteers! Whether your care gives an animal a chance at life in the first hours after rescue, or you experience the joy of seeing them returned to the wild or placed in a sanctuary home, the vital care you provide to Izzie’s Pond animals isn’t just life support for them — but also deeply rewarding to you.

How Can I Help?

We offer a range of volunteer opportunities to account for a variety of interest levels, experience, physical levels and time to spare. All onsite work days are scheduled but the times are usually very flexible.

Indoor & Cleaning Support

Many animals come with many messes! Indoor & cleaning support includes lighter duties including but not limited to laundry, washing dishes,  sterilizing baby bottles, general sweeping, dusting, crate cleaning & organization. This allows our direct animal care people to work more efficiently. These duties can generally be done any time during the workday.

Outside Animal Care

Izzie’s Pond’s resident sanctuary animals need fresh food and water daily along with regular enclosure maintenance & cleaning of feed/water troughs. By committing to provide our animals with their most basic needs, you can contribute to our animals’ overall wellbeing.   Outside daily feeding generally occurs in the morning-early afternoon.

Hotline Volunteers

Assist callers with orphaned or injured animals, provide referrals to other rescuers and give out urban wildlife advice. This is a great opportunity to work from any location, making phone calls from any phone. Requires downloading Google Voice to your phone. Training is provided along with access to an ever evolving manual and contact list.

First Responders & Rescue Transport

Be trained to arrive on the scene of an injured or orphaned animal, assess whether it needs help, safely capture it, if needed and bring it back to our facility for care. You can also pick up animals that are already contained to transport to our facility, take injured animals to veterinary appointments, from our facility to others or vice versa, or to release sites. Contained transport of any kind is typically scheduled but first response needs are sent out as the need arises.

Open Volunteer Workdays

We regularly schedule open volunteer workdays where you can join us for special projects such as pen building, crate cleaning, general grounds work, and other tasks. Keep an eye on our Izzie’s Pond page on Facebook to find out when our next workday is scheduled!

If you have already filled out a volunteer inquiry then watch your email for an open day invite. Make sure to check that junk mail just in case!

Due to COVID restrictions we are currently restricting group and open volunteer days to small numbers and by scheduling only. Please keep an eye out for notice regarding restriction changes. See you soon!

Group Volunteer Opportunities

Have a group that would like to spend a day contributing to our cause? We can organize a group project day! This is a wonderful opportunity for co workers, friends, church groups, family, etc to come help us with our mission of providing care to animals who cannot care for themselves.

Please call/text (864) 372-9992, email volunteer.izziespond@gmail.com or message on Facebook to find out how.
